Students’ Movement for Democracy (SMD) has found that the sport is welded with education and it can help to gain good health. SMD built up a soccer team in order to lobby and turn drug-addicted youth into athletes in order to take part in developing the team more actively. On the other hand, to be responsible for themselves and the others’.
SMD soccer team named ‘SMD United’ and was established in 2001 under youth sacrifice simultaneously either physicality or mentality and its own activities have been impressed of all kinds of young people.
Every year, SMD United Team has been lobbying youth (students and non-students) who absorb the drug and not attend the school, are educated about democracy, human rights, good governance and the effect of drug abuse and how to get well-being body.
SMD United Team, in spire of lack of both materials and budget, based on patient spirit to get success fruitfully. Evidentiary, the year 2006 is accomplished year gained financial support from the Netherlands funding agency, CordAid.
Nowadays, SMD United Team has enlarged its dimension and divided into two teams:-
Team A: 38 young people age 18-27 and Team B: 17 young people age 14-17. They have been trained by experienced coach who has high morality in training especially, was advised to attend the school and stop using the drug.
In 2006, SMD United Team played with various soccer teams of NGOs and private and public institutions to make friendly match at various fields got the following result:
03 Dec 2005: SMD United team played with the Newsagent Club team at Ly Huo field. The result of this game was equal with 4-4.
17 Dec 2005: SMD United team played with Royal University of Law and Economic Science team at Boeng Trabek field. The last minute SMD won 5-1.
24 Dec 2005: SMD United team matched with Rom Chorng team at Royal Air Force field near Pochentong Airport. The last minute SMD team won 1-0.
12 Aug 2006: SMD United team matched with Hello United B. team at Reusey Keo field. The last minute SMD United team won 3-2.
27 Aug 2006: SMD United team matched with Royal Academic team at Reusey Keo field. The last minute SMD United team drew 1-1.
09 Sep 2006: SMD United team matched with HIMAWARI team at Choeung Tuek field. The last minute SMD United team won 5-4.
17 Sep 2006: SMD United team matched with RAIDA team at Choeung Tuek field. The last minute SMD United team lost 1-2.
